U.S. to Host Inaugural Women’s Club World Cup in January 2028

The United States is on track to host the first-ever Women’s Club World Cup, with plans for the tournament to take place in January 2028. Los Angeles and San Diego have been identified as potential cities to host the event, as discussions progress toward finalizing the 19-team competition. Although an agreement has not yet been confirmed, the plans are at an advanced stage.

This inaugural tournament is slated to occur between two major sporting events: the 2027 Women’s World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games. FIFA views the Women’s Club World Cup as a valuable opportunity to evaluate stadium facilities, gauge ticket demand, and refine logistical arrangements in preparation for the 2031 Women’s World Cup.

The event is scheduled to commence on January 5, 2028, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of women’s club soccer on a global stage. As preparations for the tournament continue, FIFA is expected to finalize the hosting details, cementing the United States’ role in spotlighting women’s sports.
