US Proposes UAE Venue for Ukraine-Russia Peace Talks

The United States has proposed a trilateral meeting with Ukraine and Russia to discuss potential peace efforts, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The proposed talks aim to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with the United Arab Emirates suggested as a possible venue.

President Zelensky revealed that the proposal stemmed from discussions with US President Donald Trump during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two leaders explored ways to end the conflict, leading to the US suggestion of a technical-level meeting in a three-way format. While a specific date has not yet been set, the United States is expected to provide one soon.

Ukrainian and US negotiators have been engaged in discussions to iron out details for the potential trilateral meeting. Zelensky emphasized the need for Ukraine to consult with its European partners, while the United States would engage with Russia before any further discussions take place. This collaborative approach aims to ensure a comprehensive dialogue involving all parties concerned.

The Kremlin has acknowledged the possibility of talks involving Ukraine and the United States, though no concrete details have been released. This development signals a potential diplomatic effort to address and possibly resolve the ongoing tensions in the region.

In addition to the proposed talks, President Zelensky mentioned that he urged President Trump to discuss the Ukraine conflict with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their bilateral talks. Kyiv is seeking broader international support to de-escalate the situation and garner more extensive backing for peace efforts.
